SUNDAY 4/18/21 11:53AM-hanging out at the Olney farmers market... on the way over here it occurred to me that I might have the desire to make music again; I was fantasizing about what, if anything I would do if I saw some acquaintances of mine making music here... as far as I can figure out no one is making music here today… Most times there is, but not always I guess…Ray contacted me and invited me to a gig in the Baltimore region… He admitted it was a bit of a drive, but he expressed the idea that it would be cool if I made it to the gig anyway... I decided to tell him that I was hoping to come to the Brian Boru gig in Severna Park on May the 11th... The plan is to bring my acoustic guitar, assuming I have rebuilt my calluses by then...
5:41PM-I think I’ve become my father… With the exception of course, of being a workaholic; when I’m out and about I am as friendly as a person can be, but when I’m alone or with my so-called friends I don’t feel quite as gregarious…I saw Gail taking one of her exercise walks… She asked me what was wrong – because I told her I didn’t feel all that good...I could be wrong but she seems genuinely concerned about me-at least a little...I'm experimenting with speech to text- I'm not sure if it's going to work or not...it works when I use the phone...
MONDAY 4/19/21 12:29AM--I just paid a couple of bills, that's two less things to worry about today...I paid by check, *I* think that's the safest way to pay bills...Now I have to trust that the USPS won't screw anything up...Not sure how I would know if it did...in other News, Dianne attached a new toilet seat unit to the toilet in the upstairs bathroom--SHE found the first new unit (that *I* attached) to be less than perfect...Ultimately, we each did a bathroom...she also did some landscaping work, without my "assistance"...and I'm perfectly OK with that...I'm so glad to have paid those bills, I'm too excited/happy to be sleepy...
8:29AM--and in spite of the three Tylenols, BEFORE going to bed, I woke up at about 3:30 or so...I fell back to sleep at roughly 4:30 and slept until about 7:15, more or less...
I was gonna pay cash (in some form) for the auto air conditioner work if it was $700 or less, but I think I'll charge it however much it turns out to be, using my Best Buy Visa card...we'll see...
11AM-well, it looks like the auto repair is going to be closer to $1200 than $700…I’m still planning on using the Best Buy credit card – if it all possible…and the car might not be ready by the end of the day which is OK I guess because I don’t need it until tomorrow morning when I go to the doctor’s office…Perhaps, if I have to, Dianne will let me use her car for that...or maybe I should reschedule the appointment... OK we're trying again with the voice to text idea... It seems to be working OK, I think I increased the sensitivity of the microphone itself... Of course, I can speak more loudly if Dianne wasn't upstairs working, but she is... I think for the most part all I have to do is control the punctuation and correct any spelling errors... The lawn repair guys are back at work.... I have no idea how long they are going to be here...
Of course once Dianne comes back home from work (upstairs) I won't be able to do this speech to text stuff, but that's OK... I think with all the work going on outside, I won't be getting much of an afternoon nap... and there's the anxiety over the car repairs... Of course that anxiety might keep me up tonight... And tomorrow night as well... And for the next few nights...
For what it's worth, speech to text works on Facebook and Twitter... Let's see if it works with Gmail... As it turns out, it does...
Dianne is going to help with the car repair payment... It seems rather complicated to me but ultimately it will be taken care of... I think the way it works is: I pay the repair bill using my credit card, she gives me the money to pay the credit card bill and then I pay her back for that loan... I think that means that when the next Social Security check comes in, I will already have about $1000 in the bank to start with... I think this means that I will be starting off the month of May with approximately $1800 dollars in my account... I wonder what I should get myself for my birthday... Just kidding--I think...
4PM-- just waiting to hear from the car repair guy... I don't know if he's going to keep it one more day or not, but I hope he's done with it today...
4:28PM-- I guess there's still time to hear from the car repair guy, but I'm not optimistic... I'm not optimistic generally anyway, but I'm talking about car repair situation specifically... Right now I'm doing laundry... It really needed to be done... and so it is...BTW, I'm getting more and more used to speech to text... There are certain little nuances but I have to remember when I'm using it... the more I do it the easier it will get.. that's also true of guitar playing....
6:22PM--We bought a lawn sprinkler--MY recommendation...Dianne regrets taking my advice--perfect...She turned the house water on, *I* hooked up the sprinkler...it DOES work...so I have to move it occasionally; it's not that big a deal to ME...
